No Good Nick Trailer Reveals Melissa Joan Hart’s Netflix Dramedy Series

Netflix has released the first trailer for their forthcoming Melissa Joan Hart-fronted dramedy series, No Good Nick. Created by David H. Steinberg and Keetgi Kogan, No Good Nick is an original, live-action multi-cam dramedy centered on the 13-year-old Nicole (the titular Nick) and was first announced back in September 2018. The story sees Nicole set out to infiltrate a family she feels ruined her life, but after getting to know them, she begins to have a change of heart and questions whether or not she can ultimately carry out her plan for revenge.

No Good Nick will star Siena Agudong as the title character alongside her new on-screen parents Melissa Joan Hart (Sabrina The Teenage Witch) and Sean Astin (The Lord of the Rings, Stranger Things). Also joining the cast are Kalama Epstein and Lauren Lindsey Donzis. Andy Fickman will act as director for the first season, which has been confirmed for a 20-episode run and scheduled for release on April 15.

After a promo poster was revealed earlier this month, Netflix has now released a full trailer for No Good Nick. The short video splices together snippets of footage from the upcoming series with Agudong's Nick, as she cuts out a photograph of herself and inserts it into a family portrait of those she's seeking revenge against, all while explaining her motives to the camera. The trailer neatly establishes the character of Nick as a moral figure with questionable intentions and a scheming personality. Astin's character (father of the family, Ed) clearly trusts Nick and wants to give her a welcoming surrogate family and Nick already appears to have Ed's daughter under her spell by acting as a new "best friend." The rest of the family, however, are evidently having misgivings about the new arrival, although they can't quite put their finger on why.

Interestingly, the trailer also includes a brief scene of an older man, likely Nick's real father, telling his daughter not to get too attached to her new family. The character seems to be wearing an orange jumpsuit, which could imply that Nick believes Hart and Astin's characters are somehow responsible for her Dad being in jail. Whether or not she's accurate in that assumption remains to be seen.

As an original production with an exciting and young cast, No Good Nick certainly looks worth a watch, and the presence of Astin (recently also cast in The Big Bang Theory) always brings a little extra quality to any production. For many viewers, Melissa Joan Hart will still be fondly remembered for her roles in Sabrina the Teenage Witch and Clarissa Explains It All and, judging from the trailer at least, it feels like the tone of No Good Nick may hark back somewhat to those classic series, albeit with Hart now in the parenting role rather than the teenage protagonist.
