Jai Courtney Confirms He's Returning For James Gunn's Suicide Squad 30 Mar, 2019 Suicide Squad actor Jai Courtney has confirmed that his character, Captain Boomerang, will indeed be returning for James Gunn's upcoming sequel, The Suicide Squad. As the movie's title suggests, this will be as much a soft reboot as a sequel, focusing largely on a new group of villains as they're rounded up to reluctantly form a crime-fighting team. Other returning characters include Margot Robbie's Harley Quinn, and the sharpshooter assassin Deadshot - though the latter won't be played by Will Smith this time around. Due to scheduling conflicts preventing Smith from taking part in the sequel, Idris Elba is in talks to replace him as the character. Other DC villains that are expected to feature in The Suicide Squad's team include King Shark, Peacemaker, Polka Dot Man, and Ratcatcher, and Gunn reportedly wants Guardians of the Galaxy actor Dave Bautista to play Peacemaker...

Avengers: Endgame Projected To Break Worldwide Box Office Record

Image
Avengers: Endgame Projected To Break Worldwide Box Office Record 30 Mar, 2019 Avengers: Endgame is projected to shatter the all-time worldwide opening weekend record by bringing in more than $800 million in its debut. The Marvel Cinematic Universe had humble beginnings in the early days of Phase 1, but the franchise's profile grew exponentially after the original Avengers came out in 2012. That film grossed $1.5 billion at the box office and firmly established the MCU as one of today's premier movie properties. In the seven years since, Marvel has only grown in prominence, successfully making hit films out of obscure and second-tier characters like the Guardians of the Galaxy and Ant-Man. With the release of Captain Marvel earlier this month, the MCU is now past the $18 billion mark globally and that figure will substantially rise in the next month. April sees the premiere of Avengers: Endgame, sequel to the $2 billion smash Infinity War. Already, Endgame is tracking to bre...

Marvel's The Eternals: What Angelina Jolie Could Look Like As Sersi 30 Mar, 2019 New fan art for Marvel's The Eternals movie imagines what Angelina Jolie would look like as Sersi. Earlier this week, it was reported that Jolie is in talks to star in The Eternals, though the details of her role is currently unknown. If the news is true, it would be Jolie's first role in a superhero movie. With Marvel's current slate of films wrapping up this year with Avengers: Endgame and Spider-Man: Far from Home, Marvel and Disney are looking to the future with three new franchises: Black Widow, The Eternals, and Shang-Chi. Directed by Chloe Zhao and written by Matthew and Ryan Firpo, The Eternals is expected to send viewers back thousands of years into the past and could end up serving as a prequel to the MCU. Fan artist BossLogic has posted new art on Twitter which features Jolie as Sersi, a key member of the Eternals and the character that many believe Jolie would play. Rumors ...

Charlie's Angels Shifts Release Date To Avoid Terminator: Dark Fate

Image
Charlie's Angels Shifts Release Date To Avoid Terminator: Dark Fate 30 Mar, 2019 Sony has moved its Charlie's Angels reboot back to avoid opening on the same day as Paramount's Terminator: Dark Fate. The Charlie's Angels brand kicked off with the original TV series in 1976, and revolves around a team of female super-detectives who report to their enigmatic boss, Charlie Townsend. The Terminator, meanwhile, got started in 1984 with James Cameron's sci-fi action-thriller of the same name. The Terminator and Charlie's Angels franchises have seen their ups and downs over the years, to put it mildly. As a result, the former is going back to the drawing board with Dark Fate, which will ignore the last three Terminator movies and serve as a direct continuation of Cameron's sequel, Terminator 2: Judgement Day. Similarly, Charlie's Angels will attempt to revive the property sixteen years after the last film, Charlie's Angels: Full Throttle, proved to be a...

Sex and the City TV Follow-Up Being Developed by Paramount TV 29 Mar, 2019 The author of Sex and the City is ready to enrich a new generation of women with a follow-up of her iconic novel coming to Paramount Television. The new novel, Is There Still Sex in the City?, penned by Candace Bushnell, dissects friendship, dating, and sex after 50 in New York City. Paramount Television and Bushnell have made it clear that the plot is not a direct follow-up to the lives of characters Carrie, Miranda, Charlotte, and Samantha. Released in 1997, Bushnell’s Sex and the City novel was scooped up by show creator Darren Star to become a groundbreaking, award-winning and legendary series for HBO. Starring Sarah Jessica Parker, Kristin Davis, Cynthia Nixon, and Kim Cattrall, the show follows four friends as they navigate life and tackle relevant issues such as sexuality, promiscuity, and femininity. Sex and the City provided a platform for discussion of tough issues and relatability for its aud...

Swamp Thing: Matt Ryan Wants Constantine to Appear on DC Universe Series 29 Mar, 2019 Matt Ryan reveals that he wants to play John Constantine in the upcoming DC Universe series Swamp Thing. Constantine first appeared in The Saga of Swamp Thing #37 in 1985. Created by Alan Moore, Stephen R. Bissette, and John Totleben, Constantine is an anti-hero appearing in DC Comics who often goes up against supernatural forces. Keanu Reeves played the character in a 2005 film, but Ryan is the current actor taking on the role. Ryan stepped into the role of Constantine in 2014 when NBC came out with their live-action version of the character. Unfortunately for fans, Constantine was canceled in 2015 after only one season. However, Ryan did return to the role for a crossover episode on Arrow in season 4, and is now a recurring character on Legends of Tomorrow. Ryan has also voiced Constantine in the animated movies Justice League Dark and Constantine: City of Demons The Movie, as well as the animat...

Big Bang Theory Passes Cheers As Longest Running Multi-Cam Sitcom 29 Mar, 2019 The Big Bang Theory knocks out Cheers to become the longest-running multi-cam sitcom. Debuting in 2007, the hit CBS show centers around a group of nerdy friends living in Pasadena. As the years went by, fans have grown to love Sheldon (Jim Parsons), Leonard (Johnny Galecki), Penny (Kaley Cuoco), Howard (Simon Helberg) and Raj (Kunal Nayyar), and eventually Bernadette (Melissa Rauch) and Amy (Mayim Bialik), but despite continued popularity, the series' current season 12 will be its final after Jim Parsons' reluctance to return for another year. However, before it bows out, the project has nabbed another accolade to the delight of its fans. NBC's Cheers debuted in 1992 and ran for 11 brilliant seasons with 275 episodes. The Good Place's Ted Danson played the lead role Sam Malone - a former baseball player and ex-alcoholic who owns the titular bar "where everybody knows your name."...

Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. season 5 concluded last May after a year that sent the team to the future, and to space. The Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. season 5 finale saw agents save the world from Graviton, but they were unable to save their leader, Phil Coulson (Gregg), or fellow team member Leo Fitz. Coulson lived out the rest of his days until his fatal injury from The Avengers eventually killed him - again - off screen, and while Fitz died, the remaining agents set out to rescue a past version of Fitz from space. As a result, the team is going to look a little different at the start of season 6. Fitz won't be around, Mack is the new S.H.I.E.L.D. director, Deke has joined the team and Daisy and May are still processing their grief for Coulson. However, the...

Gotham's Batman Finally Rises in Series Finale Poster

Image
Gotham's Batman Finally Rises in Series Finale Poster 29 Mar, 2019 Take a look at this brand new Gotham series finale poster that heralds the arrival of the Dark Knight himself, Batman. Gotham's original mission statement was to act as a prequel to the Batman story and focus on the early career of Commissioner Jim Gordon. With each passing season however, Gotham's version of Bruce Wayne (David Mazouz) has inched closer to the superhero viewers know he will eventually become. The teenager has trained under his butler Alfred, took a few lessons from the League of Shadows and has donned a black rubber suit (without the Bat influence) to take on some minor criminals. Gotham's currently running season 5 is confirmed to be its last, and recent episodes have demonstrated Bruce's keen ability in hand-to-hand combat and his intelligence regularly outpaces that of the adults in the room. It's time for the build-up to pay off and for Bruce to finally emerge as the Cape...

The 100 Season 6 Poster Teases The Humans' New Home Planet 28 Mar, 2019

Image
The 100 Season 6 Poster Teases The Humans' New Home Planet 28 Mar, 2019 A new poster for season 6 of The 100 has been released, teasing the whole new world our heroes will be entering. The previous season of The 100 ended in spectacular fashion, with Bellamy (Bob Morley) and Clarke (Eliza Taylor) falling into cryosleep. After waking from cryosleep, both discover that Monty and Harper chose to remain awake to allow the others to survive. The following season looks to build upon the incredible world building that was set-up previously, and the trippy poster certainly suggests that claim. Showrunner Jason Rothenberg based the television show on the series of novels by author Kass Morgan about a group of 100 humans - mainly criminal adolescents - from a space station returning to Earth after a devastating nuclear apocalypse took place 97 years prior. Many aspects of The 100 revolve around the differing philosophies in the groups that formed within the surviving humans who landed on...

Students Remake Alien with Mind-Blowing High School Play

Image
Students Remake Alien with Mind-Blowing High School Play 25 Mar, 2019 Students have remade Alien into a mind-blowing high school play. Ridley Scott’s legendary 1979 sci-fi horror film has inspired untold numbers of filmmakers and actors alike over the years, spawning a franchise that helped launch the career of Sigourney Weaver and utilizing the visions of such notable directors as James Cameron, David Fincher, and Jean-Pierre Jeunet in successive installments. This year marks the 40th year anniversary of Alien’s initial release and fans worldwide have been gearing up for that first ill-fated space journey by revisiting the film in participating theaters or at home, creating commemorative artwork and more. For their part, Twentieth Century Fox has already announced the screening of six original Alien-inspired short films, created by amateur filmmakers, as well as a brand new 4K restoration of the film on Blu-ray. Beyond this, there’s bound to be numerous surprises ...

Agents of SHIELD Improved By Not Tying Into The MCU Movies

Image
Agents of SHIELD Improved By Not Tying Into The MCU Movies 24 Mar, 2019 According to Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. star Clark Gregg, the series found its stride when it began to distance itself from the Marvel Cinematic Universe movies. When Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. launched in 2013, the plan was for Marvel's films and TV shows to be intimately interwoven. Those plans changed in 2015, however, when a corporate restructure split Marvel Studios apart from the wider Marvel Entertainment. Fans - and, indeed, the stars themselves - have frequently complained at the somewhat artificial division this creates. In theory, everything takes place in the same world, and it's all "connected." In practice, however, those connections only ever work one way. The Marvel Television shows acknowledge the movies, but the movies never acknowledge the TV shows. In an interview with i09, Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.'s Clark Gregg has suggested there's a positive side to this division. While h...

Supernatural Season 15 Will Be Its Last

Image
Supernatural Season 15 Will Be Its Last 23 Mar, 2019 The CW announces that Supernatural's upcoming fifteenth season will be its last, giving fans 20 more adventures with the Winchester boys. All good things must come to an end, and that's certainly true for popular TV shows. Of course, most scripted shows reach their conclusions long before Supernatural will, no matter how popular they may be. By reaching 10 seasons back in 2014, Supernatural became part of a pretty exclusive club, but by completing season 15, Supernatural earns inclusion on an even smaller list of long-running primetime programs, alongside such shows as American Dad, ER, and Grey's Anatomy. During the currently airing season 14, Supernatural passed the 300-episode milestone, and while many fans would argue that the current output isn't as good now as the show was at its peak, Supernatural remains one of the most-watched shows on The CW. The Supernatural fanbase is incredibly loyal, sticking with th...

Fargo Creator Tried Making An Alien TV Miniseries On FX

Image
Fargo Creator Tried Making An Alien TV Miniseries On FX 23 Mar, 2019 Fargo creator Noah Hawley had at one point attempted to create an Alien TV miniseries on FX. The Alien franchise began in 1979 when Ridley Scott directed the Oscar-winning film titled Alien for 20th Century Fox. Alien and the Xenomorph creatures became a profitable franchise for the studio, which has spawned several sequels, spinoffs and prequels over the years. With this year being the 40th anniversary of the original sci-fi/horror classic, there has been a lot of news about the franchise. It was recently announced that six Alien short films would be released this year, which is the closest to a new film fans will be getting anytime soon. The fate of Scott's Alien: Covenant sequel is still unknown, but a documentary called Memory: The Origins of Alien was released this year, giving fans an inside look at Scott's 1979 film. There have been several video games, movies, and comic books about Alien over the y...

Marvel TV Auctioning Props & Costumes From Daredevil, Luke Cage & Iron Fist

Image
Marvel TV Auctioning Props & Costumes From Daredevil, Luke Cage & Iron Fist 23 Mar, 2019 Marvel TV is auctioning props and costumes for Daredevil, Luke Cage and Iron Fist. The comic book brand has officially severed ties with Netflix with the cancelation of the all their collaborative projects - the latest of which came last month when they pulled the plug on The Punisher and Jessica Jones (ahead of its season 3 debut). On the heels of this, official items from certain shows in their now defunct slate will be available for sale for collectors and fans. The slew of cancelations began in October starting with Iron Fist following a significantly better second season. A week after, news came that Luke Cage was following suit despite ending its sophomore outing in a cliffhanger and Mike Colter excitedly teasing what to expect in its third season. At that point, many assumed that the cancelations were due to the shows' poor performance, so when Daredevil season 3 rolled out a...

White House Agency Lists Peter Parker & Bruce Wayne As Interns 22 Mar, 2019 A recent report got a super-heroic boost, with the alter-egos of Batman and Spider-Man both included on a list of interns currently serving in the White House. Created within DC and Marvel respectively, Bruce Wayne and Peter Parker are two of the most popular and successful characters - both on page and screen. As such, there have been numerous incarnations of both across the decades. Most recently, Bruce Wayne was portrayed by Ben Affleck in the DCEU and Peter Parker was played Tom Holland in the MCU. Parallel versions of the latter were also recently voiced by Chris Pine and Jake Johnson in Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse, Sony's Oscar-winning animated origin story for Miles Morales (Shameik Moore). While Affleck has officially hung up the cape and cowl, the character will live on via The Batman. Although casting and plot details remain scarce, the Matt Reeves-directed prequel film will reported...
